i'm having a fabulous day because...

i helped my friend ben paint his new house (okay so this made me feel slightly jealous, but it was all the more rewarding to help him in spite of this jealousy)

my mom sent me some money so i can now afford a cup of coffee (God I've been missing caffine) and I can sit in the bookstore and read whatever i want

i started reading the feminist mystique, a book i've been meaning to read for quite some time

i have money to go grocery shopping so i no longer have to eat pinto beans for every meal (yeah, i wish i were kidding)

i'm beginning to develop a real social life here (tomorrow i'm cooking and eating dinner with Brandon, then going downtown with him for a peace and justice vigil, and then to reed college for a party with my new friends rhiannon and alton)

there is a strong posibility that i will get the childcare job at river place athletic club (tomorrow's post may be "i'm having a shitty day because...i didn't get the childcare job at river place athletic club," but what the hell, i'm feeling optimistic)

tammy is coming to visit me in a week and a half, and she is going to teach me to play soccer (and then i'll be one of those cool soccer kids)

the world doesn't look so utterly hopeless today
